Affiliate Marketing (…Is a BUSINESS not a Get-Rich-Quick-Scheme)

I’ve had numerous questions from affiliates asking me “How soon can i expect to make money?”. Well I can assure you, it can be 1 week or 4 months before you make any money, it all depends on your approach.

For many people, they think that affiliate marketing is easy, all they need to do is to sign up with an affiliate merchant and toss their affiliate links all across their websites with the hope of having someone through their affiliate link and make some sales.

This is not how affiliate marketing really works.

Another thing is that most of the affiliates treat their affiliate business as something like a get-rich-quick scheme and don’t put real effort into their affiliate business.

This is the main reason why 99 percent of the affiliates barely make any living with affiliate programs. And its the 1 percent of affiliates who make big money, because they treat their affiliate business like a real business. They are serious in everything they do in their affiliate marketing, which is why they can make such a huge amount of money.

If you really want to make money with affiliate programs, then you have to understand that ‘affiliate marketing is just another marketing game’ and you need to understand how marketing works before you can make nice chunks of cash from it.

You will need to learn how to “pre-sell” your visitors, not selling directly. You are an affiliate, your job is to “pre-sell” and recommend people to buy a product that your merchant sells. Your merchant will do the selling for you, your job as an affiliate is to bring people to your merchant’s sites, and “pre-sell” them on your merchant’s products.

One more mistake that affiliates often make is not building relationships with their visitors or prospects. The better your relationship with your prospects, the easier you can convert your affiliate traffic into sales. When people trust you, they are going to buy what you recommend to them.

This is common sense. Just like when your friend tells you that Starbucks coffee is a must try, you’ll most likely listen to them and go have a drink in Starbucks. This is the same as in affiliate marketing. Thus, you will have to create more value for people.

Always provide great content for your visitors. People visit your site with just one aim; they are looking for certain content that they need. Hence, if  you provide the great content that they’re looking for, you will create good rapport with them. Once you’ve done this, it will be easy for you to make sales.
